Along the left arc of the coin is the country name "CANADA", and on the right the year of issue 1968, separated by four-pointed stars. Below the deer's throat is the monogram H of engraver Emanuel Hahn.
Obverse
Along the left and right edges is the text "ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA". Translation: "Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, Queen". In the center is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (the first type, 'Young Queen'), facing right.
