  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is surrounded by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. Below the right talon is the letter 'M', below the left talon is the letter 'M'. The initials of mintmaster Mikhail Mikhailov. Above the eagle is the year of mintage—'1783'. In an arc from right to left around the state emblem is the inscription: MONETA • RꙊBL'. The edge is toothed.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of the Russian Empress Catherine II. On the lower left part of the portrait are the letters 'T.I.', indicating the medallist Timofei Ivanov. At the bottom, below the portrait, is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the edge in an arc from the lower left is the inscription: B•M•EKATERINA•II•IMP•ISAMOD•VSEROSS•. The edge is toothed.
