Below is the year of accession to the throne of the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II in Indo-Arabic numerals: "۱۳۲۷" - the 1327th year of the Islamic calendar or 1909 of the Gregorian calendar. Above is the number: "٦" - "6", meaning the 6th year of reign or 1914. Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim edges.
