    In the central part, two dromedary camels are depicted (facing right), one standing and the other lying down, with a saddle on its hump. Above the image is the inscription "50F" (50 francs). Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is the country's motto in French: "UNITE, EGALITE, PAIX" (Unity, Equality, Peace), with three dots between the words. Below - a cornucopia (mint mark of the Paris Mint) and a bee (mark of the mint director Pierre Rodier). Between the words and marks are raised dots.

    In the central part is the state coat of arms of the Republic of Djibouti (a laurel wreath, inside which a shield and a spear topped with a five-pointed star are depicted; on both sides - two hands, each holding a traditional dagger). To the left, above, and to the right along the rim is the country's name in French - "REPUBLIQUE DE DJIBOUTI" (Republic of Djibouti), below the year of issue - "1999".
