  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is surrounded by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. In the eagle's right talon is a scepter, in the left — an orb. Above the eagle is the mint year — '1741'. Around the eagle, facing inward, is the text: МОНЕТА•ПОЛТИНА•
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of John III (Ivan VI Antonovich) wearing a laurel wreath. Around the portrait is the text: IОАННЪ•III• Б•М•IМП: IСАМОД: ВСЕРОС: Below the portrait are the letters 'С: П: Б:' — (Saint Petersburg Mint).
