In the central part of the reverse, a frilled lizard facing right with its hood extended, with the numeral 2 on the hood. Below the lizard are the designer's initials Stuart Devlin - 'SD'.
Obverse
In the central part is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain wearing a crown. On the left, following the curve of the coin's edge, is the monarch's name 'ELIZABETH II' in English. On the right is the name of the English dominion 'AUSTRALIA' and the year of minting '1982'.
