In the central part is the country's coat of arms - a shield with a lion's head. Around it is the inscription of the country's motto in Rundi: "UBUMWI IBIKORWA ITIRAMBERE", which translates as: "UNITY WORK PROGRESS". To the left, above and to the right is an inscription in the Rundi language: "IBANKI YA REPUBLIKA Y'U BURUNDI" - "BANK OF THE REPUBLIC OF BURUNDI", below - the year of minting: "2014".
