In the central part, within a circle, images of the obverse and reverse of the coin: 5 euro cents, Netherlands, positioned vertically against a map of Europe. Along the left edge of the coin's rim, an English inscription in an arc: 'THE NEW EURO', 'PEAN CURRENCY' - the new euro currency, below - 12 five-pointed stars symbolizing the 12 member countries of the European Union.
Obverse
In the central part, the coat of arms of Uganda. To the left and right of it, numbers: 19 and 99 respectively, indicating the year of issue: 1999. In the left part, along the rim of the coin, an English inscription framed by dots: 'BANK OF UGANDA' - Bank of Uganda, below - '1000 SHILLINGS' - 1000 shillings. The edge of the coin features raised elements in the form of teeth.
