    In the central part, the numeral 1 with horizontal lines inside. Along the upper edge of the coin, from left to right, a floral ornament with nine leaves; below, the English text 'CENT'. A decorative border of dots runs along the rim.
  • Obverse
    In the central part is the highest British civilian award: the George Cross. It is a straight equilateral cross; in its central medallion is an image of Saint George the Victorious slaying a dragon with a sword. Around the medallion is the motto 'FOR GALLANTRY'. Between the arms of the cross are small monograms of King George VI - 'GVI'. A decorative raised border of dots runs along the edge, with the island state's name 'MALTA' at the top and the year of minting '1975' at the bottom. To the left and right, a dolphin mirrored facing downwards. All inscriptions are in English.
