In the central part, within a smaller circle formed by dots, a palm tree is depicted against a sea background, with a rising sun to its left, a three-masted sailing ship and a flying mail pigeon to its right. In the upper part, along the curve of the coin's edge, the English text: 'TWO CENTS'. Along the curve of the lower edge, the minting year 1896. The inscriptions are separated by two five-pointed stars. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of denticles.
Obverse
In the central part, the head of the goddess Liberty facing left is depicted, with the letter 'H' below the truncation of her neck. To the left, above, and to the right along the rim, the country name Republic of Liberia in English: 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA'. In the lower part, along the curve of the coin's edge, a five-pointed star. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of denticles.
