Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is the colony's name in English: 'NIGERIA - BRITISH WEST AFRICA'. Below is the year of issue, 1910. The rim features decorative elements in the form of denticles.
  • Obverse
    In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is a depiction of the British Imperial Crown, with the inscription to the left and right: 'EDWARD VII KING & EMPEROR'. The central hole is present. Circling the hole is the denomination inscription: in English on the left, top, and right: 'ONE PENNY', and below in vocalized Arabic: 'وَاحِد بَنِّي'. The rim features decorative raised denticles.
