Below the shield are the highest awards of the empire. Along the upper edge of the coin is a Latin inscription to the right and left: 'REX∙LOMB∙ET∙VEN∙DALM∙GAL∙LOD∙ILL∙A∙A∙1847∙' (King of Lombardy and Venice, Dalmatia, Galicia, Lodomeria, Illyria, Archduke of Austria 1847). Below is the numeral '4', flanked on both sides by a Moor's head. Along the edge of the coin are decorative elements in the form of dots.

In the center is the right-facing profile of Ferdinand I, Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary and Bohemia, wearing a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon forming a bow. Along the edge of the coin runs a Latin inscription: to the left, top, and right 'FERD∙I∙D∙G∙AVSTR∙IMP∙HVNG∙BOH∙R∙H∙N∙V∙' (Ferdinand I, by the Grace of God Emperor of Austria, fifth of that name King of Hungary, Bohemia). Below is the Latin letter 'A' - the mint mark of the Vienna Mint. The rim of the coin features decorative raised dots.
