    In the central part of the reverse is a relief depiction of a villa belonging to a wealthy Roman citizen. In front of the dwelling stands a Roman soldier facing left, leaning on a shield with his left hand, holding a spear point-up in his right; before him, a youth repairs a piece of armor. On the right, a woman and a man; behind the woman is a column bearing the Imperial Eagle. Below, a horizontal Latin inscription 'CARNVNTVM' (Carnuntum), separated from the image by a Greek key pattern. The edge of the coin features dot-like elements.

    On the right is the left-facing profile of Emperor Lucius Septimius Severus, wearing a laurel wreath. On the left are the 'Heathen Gate' in Carnuntum and part of the ancient city. Below the buildings, the city's name in Latin 'CARNVNTVM' (Carnuntum) and the year of issue '2011'. Along the rim in German, at the top and left, the country name 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' (Republic of Austria); at the bottom, the inscription '20 EURO' (20 Euro); on the right, the name of Emperor Septimius Severus 'SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS'. The rim is decorated with raised dots.
