    In the central part, the coat of arms of Uganda. To the left and right of it are numbers: 20 and 02 respectively, indicating the year of mintage: 2002. In the left part, along the edge of the coin, is text in English, framed by dots: 'BANK OF UGANDA' - Bank of Uganda, below - '1000 SHILLINGS' - 1000 shillings. The coin's edge features raised elements in the form of teeth.
