In the central part, within a circle of silver-colored metal, a female runner is depicted with her arms raised victoriously, holding a flowing ribbon. To the left of the athlete, within the circle, is the flag of England. To her right is the inscription: "£2" - two pounds. Above, to the right, and below along the rim is the English inscription: "XVII COMMONWEALTH GAMES", translated into Russian as "XVII COMMONWEALTH GAMES", the mintage year 2002, and the monogram "MB" of engraver Matthew Bonaccorsi.

In the central part, within a circle of silver-colored metal, the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II. Around the edge of the coin, separated by a dot, is the inscription: "ELIZABETH II. DEI. GRA. REG. FID. DEF.", which translates from English as "Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith." Below the shoulder truncation is the monogram "IRB" - the mark of engraver Ian Rank-Broadley. Around the outer rim and the inner circle are decorative elements in the form of dots.
