    In the central part, within a circle, the numeral 5. Around it are the nine coats of arms of the Federal States of Austria: Vienna, Burgenland, Upper Austria, Vorarlberg, Carinthia, Styria, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol. The coats of arms are positioned with their base towards the center, forming a sun-like pattern. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in German: on the left, top, and right the country name "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH" (Republic of Austria), at the bottom the inscription "EURO" (Euro).
  • Obverse
    In the center, against the backdrop of the Hofburg palace complex: the Spanish Riding School and the ballrooms, is depicted the equestrian statue of Emperor Joseph II. Above the palace complex is a circle of twelve five-pointed stars, inside which is the year of minting "2006". Along the rim are inscriptions in German: on the left and top "ÖSTERREICHISCHE PRÄSIDENTSCHAFT IM RAT DER UE" (Austrian Presidency in the Council of the EU), at the bottom the name of the square "JOSEFSPLATZ" (Josefsplatz).
