Along the edge arc are inscriptions: left 'ORDEM E', right 'PROGRESSO', translating from Portuguese as 'ORDER AND PROGRESS'. In the central upper part is the depiction of the Brazilian national coat of arms: a central emblem in the form of a star with a round shield is framed by a wreath of coffee tree branches on the left and tobacco on the right. The wreath rests on the rays of a ten-pointed star. Below, at the base of the emblem, a sword is positioned vertically, with a small star also depicted on its hilt. On the round shield, 5 stars geometrically replicate the Southern Cross constellation. The shield is framed by a border of 20 more stars. On the motto ribbon below the sword is the official name of the state in Portuguese 'ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL', translated as 'UNITED STATES OF BRAZIL'. On the lower ribbons is the date of the foundation of the federal republic '15 DE NOVEMBRO DE 1889' — 'November 15, 1889'. Below the coat of arms, a two-line inscription '1000 / REIS', translated as 'one thousand reis', is framed by two branches intertwined at the base.

Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised dots. Along the rim: left, top, and right is the name of the state in Portuguese 'REPÚBLICA DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL', translated as 'Republic of the United States of Brazil'; at the bottom is the mint year '1912', highlighted on both sides by five-pointed stars. In the central part is the profile of Marianne, facing left, enclosed within a circular border of relief elements in the form of alternating five-pointed stars and dashes.
