    In the central part of the coin is the left-facing profile of King George VI of Great Britain, wearing the Imperial State Crown. Below the truncation of the neck are the letters 'PM', denoting the initials of the designer: Percy Metcalfe. Along the edge of the coin is a Latin inscription: 'GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP', which translates as: 'GEORGE VI, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, KING OF ALL BRITAIN, DEFENDER OF THE FAITH, EMPEROR OF INDIA'. The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
