    In the central part is a six-pointed Star of David, with a hole inside it. Along the upper edge of the coin, from left to right, runs the text of the colony's name in English: BRITISH WEST AFRICA. Below is the year of issue, 1931. The coin's rim features decorative elements in the form of denticles.

    In the central part is a hole, below it are the letters: "KN" - denoting the mint mark of Kings Norton. Around the hole is the inscription ONE TENTH OF A PENNY: to the left, above, and to the right in English, and below in Arabic with diacritics: "عشر ثني". At the top is depicted the Crown of the British Empire. To the left and right along the edge is text in Latin: "GEORGIVS V REX ET IND: IMP:" - "GEORGE V, KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA". The coin's rim features decorative raised denticles.
