    In the central part, the inscription 20 sen from top to bottom in Japanese: "二十錢". Along the edge arc are two branches tied at the bottom with a bow: on the left, paulownia; on the right, chrysanthemum. At the top is a chrysanthemum flower. Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.

    Along the rim are inscriptions in Japanese: on the left, "日本大" - "GREAT JAPAN"; on the right and top, the year of minting: "明治ニ十七年" - "27TH YEAR OF MEIJI" or 1894. In the central part, a dragon is depicted. Below it is the inscription 20 sen in English: "20 SEN". Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
