    In the central part, an image of a tennis player diving for a shot. To the right and below him are facsimile signatures of the West German team members (Boris Becker, Eric Jelen, Carl-Uwe Steeb, and Niki Pilic). Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in English: from left to right - 'DAVIS-CUP-FINAL•1989•GERMANY-SWEDEN', below '5 DOLLARS' (Davis Cup Final•1989•Germany-Sweden 5 Dollars).

    In the central part is the state coat of arms: a heraldic shield with four stars in the upper left quarter, a golden fleece in the upper right, a sheaf of wheat in the lower left, and two hammers in the lower right. Between the sides of the shield is a vertical stripe depicting three ships. The shield is crowned with St. Edward's Crown, and below it are two fern leaves. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the state name 'NIUE' in English and the year of minting '1989'.
