    In the central part is the state symbol of the Congo Free State - a stylized depiction of a five-pointed star. Below it is the year of issue: '1887'. To its left and right are three five-pointed stars each, arranged vertically. In the upper part, along the curve of the coin's edge, is text in French, separated by the top ray of the star: '10 Ces.' - 10 centimes. Around the circumference are raised elements in the form of denticles.

    In the central part, within a beaded circle, is a composition consisting of five monograms of Leopold II. From right to left along the edge is text in French: 'LEOPOLD II ROI DES BELGES SOUV. DE L'ETAT INDEP. DU CONGO' - Leopold II King of the Belgians and Sovereign of the Independent State of the Congo, separated by a five-pointed star. Along the rim is a denticulated relief.
