    In the upper part, along the edge arc of the coin, the text 'TWO AND A HALF', below 'PESEWAS' — translating from English as 'two and a half pesewas'. The inscriptions are separated by two rosettes in the form of '--'. In the central part, the coat of arms shield of Ghana divides the year of issue '1967' into two parts. A cross with a leopard image divides the shield into 4 quarters: top left, a ceremonial okyeame sword crossed with its sheath; top right, a castle on a base of three wavy bands; bottom left, a cocoa tree with a lush crown; bottom right, a gold mine on the ground.
