    At the top, along the rim, the Spanish text: 'BOGOTA' - indicating the Bogotá mint. In the center, the Spanish inscription: 'UN DECIMO' - one decimo, surrounded by a laurel wreath tied with ribbons. On both sides are the symbols of the god of trade Apollo: a caduceus (staff with wings, entwined by two snakes). Along the lower rim, the silver fineness: 'LEI 0,900'. The edge is decorated with denticles.

    To the right, top, and left is the Spanish inscription: 'NUEVA GRANADA', meaning 'New Granada'. In the center is a stylized depiction of an open pomegranate fruit on a branch. On either side, crossing at the top, are cornucopias. At the bottom, along the rim, is the date 1853, separated from the inscription by floral tips. The edge is decorated with denticles.
