    Along the upper edge, the English inscription 'EAST AFRICA'. Below, the year of issue '1949', flanked on both sides by rosettes in the form of elongated quadrilaterals. In the central part above the hole, the numeral 10, flanked by crossed tusks.

    Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised dots. Along the edge of the coin on the left and right are English inscriptions: 'GEORGIVS' and 'SEXTVS REX', separated by the British crown, translating to 'George VI King'. In the central part below the round hole, the inscription 'TEN CENTS'.
