    The central part depicts the spillway of the hydroelectric power station dam in Hernandarias on the Acaray River; below the image line is the name of the structure 'REPRESA ACARAY' (from Spanish: Acaray Dam). The inscription '50 guaranies' is split into two parts: the number 50 at the top and the inscription in Spanish 'GUARANIES' at the bottom.

    The central part features a portrait facing right of the thirty-eighth President of the Republic of Paraguay, José Félix Estigarribia. Below the truncation are the rank and name of the dictator in Spanish 'MCAL.J. F. ESTIGARRIBIA' (Marshal J.F. Estigarribia). To the left, top, and right along the rim is the name of the state in Spanish 'REPUBLICA DEL PARAGUAY' (Republic of Paraguay); at the bottom is the year of minting '1980'.
