Below the image, the inscription '$b 500' (500 pesos), and below that the metal fineness 'ley 0,933'. Along the edge of the coin, an arc of text from left to right: 'QUINIENTOS PESOS•BOLIVIANOS' (Five Hundred Bolivian Pesos), at the bottom 'ORDEN•PAZ•TRABAJO' (Order, Peace, Work). Under Bolívar's truncation, the inscription 'Minorte'.
Obverse
In the central part, the coat of arms of the Republic of Bolivia is depicted. It consists of an oval containing: Mount Potosí, a rising sun on the left, an alpaca facing right at the foot of the mountain, a sheaf of wheat and a breadfruit tree; on both sides of the oval are three flags, two rifles, a cannon barrel on the left, a halberd on the right, and an Andean condor perched on top. Along the rim are inscriptions in Spanish: at the top the country name 'REPUBLICA DE BOLIVIA' (Republic of Bolivia), at the bottom the inscription 'SESQUICENTENARIO' (Sesquicentennial). On the left, the year of Upper Peru's declaration of independence from Spain '1825', on the right the year of minting '1975'.
