Reverse
The central part features the denomination 'MONETA RUBL' (COIN ROUBLE) in two lines. Above the denomination is the Crown of the Russian Empire. Below the denomination is a decorative divider consisting of two oppositely directed ornamental lines with a small circle between them, featuring a raised dot in its center. Below the divider is the year of mintage '1846'. Below the year is the abbreviation 'S.P.B.' (Saint Petersburg Mint). On the left side of the coin, along the edge, is a laurel branch, and on the right, an oak branch. At the base, the branches are tied with a ribbon forming a neat bow. The entire edge of the coin is stamped with protruding denticles.
Obverse
The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire – a double-headed eagle, its heads crowned with two coronets, and a third, larger crown above them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow – a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. On the wings are depicted the titular coats of arms: on the right – Kazan, Astrakhan, and Siberian; on the left – Polish, Taurican, and Finnish. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left – an orb. Below the right talon is the letter 'P', below the left – the letter 'A'. These are the initials of Mintmaster Pavel Alekseev. The center of the obverse is enclosed within a braided border. In the upper part is an eight-petaled flower, visually indicating the start of the inscription: CHISTAGO SEREBRA 4 ZOLOTNIKA 21 DOLIA (PURE SILVER 4 ZOLOTNIKS 21 PARTS). The edge is decorated with short denticles.
