Below is the year of accession to the throne of the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II in Indo-Arabic numerals: "١٢٩٣" - 1293 AH (Islamic calendar) or 1876 AD (Gregorian). Above is the number: "۱۷" - "17", signifying the 17th year of his reign or 1892 AD. Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
