In the central part, the numeral: "100", framed by a floral pattern. Below is the year of issue: 2002, framed by the mintmarks of the Paris Mint: a cornucopia and a horseshoe. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right runs the French text: "UNION MONETAIRE OUEST-AFRICAINE" - West African Monetary Union.
Obverse
In the central part, a gold dust weight (Taku-Ashanti). Below it is the letter "RJ" - the mark of the Paris Mint designer Raymond Joly. Around the edge of the coin is the French inscription: "BANQUE CENTRALE ᴅᴇS ETATS ᴅᴇ L'AFRIQVE ᴅᴇ L'OUEST" - Central Bank of West African States.
