Two olive branches are placed along the arcs of the left and right edges of the coin. In the center is the year of issue: "1821", surrounded by inscriptions in English, at the top: "ST. HELENA", at the bottom: "HALF PENNY". Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
Obverse
The central part features the coat of arms of the British East India Company - two lions holding a shield. Below them is a ribbon with the inscription: "AUSP: REGIS & SENAT ANGLIÆ" - "UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE KING AND SENATE OF ENGLAND". Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
