Reverse The upper part of the reverse features the crown of the Russian Empire. Below, on two lines, are the denomination and monetary unit: 1 KOPEYKA. Below this runs a horizontal straight line and the abbreviation "S.P.B." (Saint Petersburg Mint). On the left side of the reverse, near the edge, is a laurel branch, and on the right, an oak branch. At the base, the branches are tied together with a ribbon. Raised denticles are struck along the edge of the coin.
Obverse The center of the obverse is occupied by the lesser coat of arms of the Russian Empire - a double-headed eagle with wings spread. The eagle's heads bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is positioned above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow - a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Below the eagle is the year of minting "1828.". The rim is decorated with denticles.
