In the central part is a breadfruit tree; at the base of the trunk, two alpacas are depicted lying facing each other. Behind the alpacas are numbers: behind the left one '10', behind the right one '20'. Above the crown, nine five-pointed stars are arranged in a semicircle. Along the edge of the coin, the text reads from left to right: the country name in Spanish 'REPUBLICA BOLIVIANA' (Republic of Bolivia), below the Latin letters 'PTS', 'F', the mint year '1848', and 'M', with dots between the inscriptions. The rim features decorative dot elements.
Obverse
In the center is a left-facing portrait of Bolivia's first president, Simón Bolívar. On the truncation is the name 'Bolivar'. Along the rim are inscriptions in Spanish: to the left and right 'LIBRE POR LA CONSTITUCION.' (Free by the Constitution). The edge of the coin features decorative raised dots.
