  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is surrounded by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. In the eagle's right talon is a scepter, in the left an orb. Above the eagle, divided by the large crown, is the mint year—'1741'. Around the eagle, facing inward, is the text: МОНЕТА•РУБЛЬ•
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of John III (Ivan VI Antonovich) wearing a laurel wreath. Around the portrait is the text: IОАННЪ•III• Б•М•IМП: IСАМОД: ВСЕРОС: Below is the abbreviation 'М М Д' (Moscow Mint).
