In the central part, two judokas are fighting. Below them is the inscription 'JUDO'.

Around the rim of the coin in the upper part, the name of King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV in English: 'TAUFA'AHAU TUPOU IV'. At the bottom, the name of the state 'TONGA'. The inscriptions are separated by decorative raised dots. In the central part is a portrait of the king, facing right in half-profile.
