In the central part is a girl facing the viewer, with eleven stars in her flowing hair. Below the girl's neck are five ribbons, on the left – six, below which are seven vertical stripes. Above the girl is an inscription from top to bottom 'Europe' – 'EUROPA'. Along the arc of the coin's edge from left to right are twelve graphic symbols of the common European currency. Along the arc of the lower edge is the year of minting '2015', flanked on the left by a cornucopia (the mark of the Paris Mint) and on the right by a pentagon – the mark of the Chief Engraver of the Paris Mint, Yves Sampo.
Obverse
In the center is depicted a flying dove with a branch in its beak, on which instead of leaves there are twelve five-pointed stars. Above the bird are the 28 letter codes of the European Union member countries. Below is the inscription fifty euro '50 EURO', and below that the letters 'RF' – French Republic (French: République Française). On the right is the mark of the European Minting Program.
