Obverse
The English text "ZAMBIA" — the name of the Republic of Zambia — is inscribed along the upper arc of the coin's edge. The year of minting "2012" is below. The central part depicts the national coat of arms of Zambia. The shield features 6 wavy vertical bars; above the shield are crossed a pickaxe and a hoe; above them is an eagle with spread wings, looking back. The shield is supported on both sides by a man and a woman standing on a grassy base. The motto on the ribbon reads "One Zambia One Nation".
