Reverse In the central part, a palm tree is depicted, dividing the inscription '1/F' (1 Franc). Along the edge of the coin is the inscription 'Central Bank': at the top in French 'BANQUE CENTRALE', at the bottom in Dutch 'CENTRALE BANK'. Five-pointed stars are located to the left and right.
Obverse In the central part is the lesser coat of arms of the Belgian Congo: a heraldic shield topped with a grand ducal crown. On the shield is a small image of a rampant lion, with a five-pointed star in the upper left corner. The coat of arms divides the mint year '1960' into two parts: '19' on the left, '60' on the right. Along the rim are inscriptions in Dutch: at the top 'BELGISCH CONGO BELGE' (Belgian Congo), at the bottom the name of the territory under Belgian administration 'RUANDA-URUNDI', flanked on both sides by a five-pointed star.
