Above - the number: "١٨" - "18", meaning the 18th year of reign or 1893 AD.
Obverse In the central part is depicted the personal cipher (tughra) of the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II. Below - the inscription 5 Qirsh in Ottoman Turkish: "ش ٥". Decorative raised dots are placed along the rim.
