Obverse
A decorative raised pattern of triangles along the rim. Inscriptions in Spanish along the left and right edges: 'REPUBLICA' and 'PERUANA', meaning 'Peruvian Republic'. At the bottom, the inscription 'LIBERTADOR MARISCAL CASTILLA' — 'Liberator Marshal Castilla', a Peruvian military and statesman. His right-facing portrait is in the center. The mint year '1954' is below the portrait truncation.
