Left, top and right inscription in Rundi: "IBANKI YA REPUBLIKA Y'U BURUNDI" - "Bank of the Republic of Burundi", below - the year of issue: "1976". In the central part is depicted the country's coat of arms - a shield with a lion's head. Around it is the inscription of the country's motto in Rundi: "UBUMWI IBIKORWA ITIRAMBERE", which translates as: "UNITY WORK PROGRESS".
