The central part features a simplified State Emblem of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with raised, spread wings. The eagle's heads are crowned with two coronets, with a third, larger crown above them. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Above the eagle is the mint year — '1740', divided by the large crown. Below the eagle is the denomination designation — the inscription 'ПѦТЬ КОПѢЕКЪ.' (FIVE KOPEKS) in a semicircle. Along the edge of the coin is a beaded border.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Empress Anna Ioannovna. Around the portrait is the text: ANNA B.M. IMPERATRI • I SAMODERZH• VSEROSS (ANNA BY THE GRACE OF GOD EMPRESS AND AUTOCRATRESS OF ALL RUSSIA). Along the rim is a beaded border.
