To the right of the duck is the engraver's monogram of Jean-Luc Grondin. In the central part above the image are the dates 1987 - 1997. Along the arc of the lower edge is the inscription: "1 DOLLAR". Along the arc of the upper edge is the name of the country Canada in English - "CANADA".
