    Along the upper edge, the country name in English reads from left to right: BRITISH WEST AFRICA. The year of issue, 1946, is below. The central area features a six-pointed Star of David with a central hole. The edge is decorated with denticles.

    At the top, along the rim, is the Crown of the British Empire. To the left is the inscription: "GEORGIVS VI", to the right: "REX ET IND: IMP:", which translates from Latin as: "GEORGE VI" and "KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA". The central area has a hole, surrounded by the denomination inscription: to the left, top, and right in English - "ONE HALF PENNY", and at the bottom in Arabic with diacritics: "دصف ثني". The edge is decorated with raised denticles.
