The rim of the coin is decorated with a pattern of dots.

In the central part, the coat of arms of the Republic of Cuba. Above, an inscription in Spanish: «REPUBLICA DE CUBA», which translates to «Republic of Cuba». In the lower part, along the rim, an inscription in Spanish: «1 PESO». To the left and right of the coat of arms, along the edge, are two five-pointed stars.
