    Along the upper rim, the country name 'GHANA'. At the bottom, the inscription '6 PENCE' meaning 'two shillings'. Between them are rosettes in the form of dots. In the central part, a recessed image of a five-pointed star. The top ray divides the mint year '1958'.

    Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised dots. In the upper part along the rim, the inscription in English 'CIVITATIS GHANIENSIS CONDITOR', below 'KWAME NKRUMAH' — Kwame Nkrumah, the first Prime Minister and President of independent Ghana. The inscriptions are separated by two star-shaped rosettes. In the central part, the right-facing profile of the president. Below the truncation, the letters 'PV', the engraver's mark for Paul Vincze.
