    In the central part on the right are large numerals '50', below them a two-line inscription in English 'EURO / CENT' – meaning 'fifty euro cents'. To the right of the numerals is the engraver's mark of Luc Luycx 'LL'. In the central part on the left are the outlines of the eurozone countries. From them, six vertical parallel lines extend upwards and downwards, ending in 12 stars.
  • Obverse
    Along the rim are 12 five-pointed stars, symbolizing the eurozone countries. At the bottom is the name of the issuing country in Italian 'CITTA' DEL VATICANO' – 'Vatican City'. On the right are the mint year 2007 and the letter 'R' – the mintmark of the Rome Mint. In the central part is a portrait of Pope Benedict XVI facing forward and inscriptions in Italian: 'M.A.C. INC' – the personal mark of engraver Maria Angela Cassol and the artist's signature of Daniela Longo 'D.L.'.
