    Against the backdrop of an active volcano, a blacksmith sits leaning on an anvil (facing right), holding a hammer in his right hand. Inscriptions in English: at the top – 'ONE CENTAVOS' (one centavo), at the bottom the colony's name 'FILIPINAS' (Philippines). The edge of the coin features decorative dot elements.
  • Obverse
    In the center, the coat of arms of the Philippines during the period of U.S. colonization: a shield upon which sits an eagle turned left with wings spread. In its right talon, the eagle holds three arrows, in its left, a branch. To the left, top, and right, text in English: 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA'. At the bottom, the mint year '1918', flanked: on the left by the Latin letter 'S' (mint mark of San Francisco), on the right by a dot. Along the rim are decorative raised dots.
