Below - the year of accession to the throne of the Ottoman Sultan Abdulaziz I in Indo-Arabic numerals: "١٢٧٧" - 1277 AH (Islamic calendar) or 1861 AD (Gregorian). Above - the numeral: "١٠" - "10", meaning the 10th year of reign or 1870. Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
