    In the central part is a double-headed eagle with outstretched wings; the eagle's heads are in a halo, above them a crown; in its right talon is a sword, in its left a scepter; on its breast is a crowned heraldic shield depicting the coats of arms of Austria and Lorraine, framed by a chain. Below, in a cartouche, the number 2. Along the edge of the coin, an inscription in Latin on the right and left: 'ARCH∙AVST∙D∙BVRG∙LOTH∙M∙D∙HET∙1783∙' (Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Lorraine, Grand Duke of Tuscany 1783). The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.

Below the portrait is the Latin letter 'E' - the mint mark of the Karlsburg mint. Along the edge of the coin, text in Latin: on the right and left 'IOSEPH∙II∙D∙G∙R∙I∙S∙A∙GERM∙HV∙BO∙REX∙' (Joseph II, by the Grace of God, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, King of Germany, Hungary, Bohemia).
